MEMBERSHIP
As a private members club, all players are required to pay their annual
membership fee at the start of each season. New players are permitted a grace
period of 3 training sessions before being requested to pay their subscription.
Put simply, funds raised from membership subscriptions are the lifeblood of our
wonderful club and are essential for providing the facilities that make VfB
Oldenburg one of the best equipped cricket clubs in Lower Saxony. Please assist
Code of Conduct of VfB Oldenburg CC Members and Guests
by paying without having to be chased.
TASKS FOR HOME GAMES
Out of courtesy for the opposition, the umpires, your captain and team-mates,
please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of play as detailed in your
fixture card. To ensure the prompt start of play, all players are allocated small
jobs upon arrival at the ground. These are displayed on the teamsheet in the
dressing room and on our facebook group and include putting out the boundary
flags, setting up the scoreboard.
CRICKET TEAS (THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE DAY)
All players are required to bring sandwiches to home games for teas. Please
bring a minimum 8 slices of bread. Fruit, cakes, pizza and other food are
welcome as an addition but not as an alternative to sandwiches. For those short
of time, try the next shop for a loaf and some fillings.
BAR (TO CELEBRATE VICTORY)
All players are encouraged to come for at least one drink (soft or alcoholic) in the
Vapiano Bar after matches, especially after home games. Toast a hundred, a great
bowling performance or commiserate a heroic collapse. Now that league games
start earlier there’s more time for that “cheeky pint” after the game.
CLUB NIGHT (TO HONE THE SKILLS)
Club night is on the first Wednesday of the month from 20 pm at Vapiano Bar.
Please try and attend when time allows. Where better to spend those long
summer evenings but working on your cuts and pulls and then enjoying a fine
pint of Rebellion.
WORK PARTIES (MAKING THE GROUND FIT FOR THE SEASON AHEAD)
The wonderful ground that we enjoy when the sun is blazing in the summer in
August is as a result of the efforts of all too few of the playing members. Work
parties are held throughout the year to prepare the ground, today the clubhouse
or organize a leaflet drop to recruit new members.
FUNDRAISERS (HELPING TO GAIN NEW MEMBERS)
Finally, the committee organizes social events, sporting quizzes and raffles
throughout the year to raise further funds for the club and to help keep
membership low. It cannot be stressed enough how important these events are
not only in supplementing the income from match fees and membership, but in
fostering team spirit in a club that draws its membership from an increasingly
wide catchment area. Again where possible, please show your support for VfB
Oldenburg Cricket Club by attending events where possible.
This Code of Behaviour is subjected to change under certain circumstances,
which the board will decide on. The president has the authority to veto the
decision.
